School of Sexuality Education Social Media (Volunteer)
If you saw the page where I spoke about my own blog, pleasureful.co.uk, you'll know that sexual health and wellness is a big passion of mine. So, when I saw that the charity School of Sexuality Education were hiring for a Social Media Executive, I jumped at the chance to help out a cause that was so close to my heart.
I worked for SSE for around 5 months, helping out with social media strategies, drafting posts, editing video content for Reels, and pitching blog post ideas. It was a pleasure to work with the charity to promote the amazing work that they do delivering RSHE lessons within schools, and a breath of fresh air to work with so many like-minded individuals.
I mainly helped to draft posts for Instagram, and occasionally LinkedIn. We posted about once a week on Instagram - the process would consist of me creating a rough plan for the month, drafting the posts in a shared Google Sheets document for the CEO to read and approve, and then briefing our graphic designer on the visuals I had in mind for the post. Despite the strict community guidelines at Meta forcing many accounts to censor their content when speaking on certain topics, SSE requested that any content I wrote was not censored, as they wanted to show that they did not believe in censorship. So, instead of the usual 's3x' or 'sx' in place of the word sex, we did not conform to the Meta rules. Whilst I love and respect this decision from SSE, I am not entirely sure I would advise other accounts to do this, as there is a risk of your account being suspended or even taken down.
A short but sweet volunteering role - I am super grateful for my time with SSE and it was wonderful to be able to combine my talents in content creation with my passion for sexuality education.
